Travel & Stay

Travelling to the United Kingdom

We are celebrating in the North West of the UK, please keep in mind for those travelling from abroad; all non-British (including EU nationals) now require a valid passport and an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to enter the country.

The ETA is a digital permission that must be obtained via the official UK government website or app before you travel, as national ID cards are no longer accepted.

By plane

For those traveling from abroad, the nearest and most convenient gateway is Manchester Airport (MAN), located approximately 35–45 minutes from Biddulph by road. The easiest way to reach the area from the terminal is by hiring a car or pre-booking an airport transfer, though regular train services also run from the airport to nearby Stoke-on-Trent or Congleton, followed by a short taxi or bus ride.

By car

Biddulph is centrally located and easily accessible via the M6 motorway; simply exit at Junction 15 or 16 and follow the A500 and A527 towards the town. Please remember that if you are driving from outside the UK (including from the EU), you must secure your ETA visa before you travel, as border officials and ferry/tunnel operators will check for this digital authorization alongside your passport. Once you arrive, please make sure to follow Google Maps to the location.

By train

For those traveling by rail, the most convenient stations are Congleton (just 10 minutes away) and Stoke-on-Trent (about 20 minutes away). Both stations offer frequent, direct connections from major hubs like London Euston and Manchester Piccadilly; once you arrive, a short taxi ride will take you straight to the heart of Biddulph

While Uber does operate in the North West, availability in Biddulph itself can be spotty. For the area a (pre-booked) local taxi is much safer!

When booking, mention Biddulph Old Hall—local drivers know the lanes well.

Resting there

A Victorian masterpiece just moments from the Hall. It is famous for its "garden rooms" that take you on a global journey—from a red Chinese pagoda and Egyptian sphinxes to a Himalayan glen.

Little Moreton Hall (National Trust)

Located in nearby Congleton, this is one of the most famous timber-framed Tudor manor houses in England. It’s wonderfully "wonky," surrounded by a scenic moat and a traditional knot garden.
